Tamara's Story
Linda Scotson has never promised what she could not deliver.
She and her team have been a light in the darkness. Linda has offered
hope where none existed for a way to help her recover from the oxygen
damage of birth. Linda has looked at my daughter’s development
and physical structure in great detail and recorded it as far as
possible with photographs/video’s and measurements. Linda
has treated her as an individual with an individual programme when
needed.
Tamara’s progress has been fantastic. It is not a miracle
that change happens for the hours spent on therapy do take commitment.
The payback has been watching my child improve slowly and progressively
and gain her independence and determination to administer.
We are on our 10th visit we have been coming to the centre for
2 years. 2 years ago Tamara was crawling around the home she would
often get out of bed and lie on the carpet with no energy unable
to get through a day. She was diagnosed as having diplegia. An MRI
scan when she was 2¼ showed moderate damage to her motor
cortex. When I asked her paediatric consultant if she would walk,
the reply was, the question to ask is “What will she walk
with”? Tamara was obviously not predicted to walk with independence,
but to require a frame or sticks something of that nature.
6 months after beginning therapy I’ve written “Never
lay down to rest during day.
100% improvement. Much happier than 6 months ago, in no doubt that
healing is taking place at steady rate. Tamara’s balance improves
steadily she walked controlled steps for the 1st time in September
2004. Now summer 2006 she can walk ¼ mile to school. Tamara
hardly used the walker that she was given by the time she started
school in January of this year she could climb stairs unaided. I
have seen her balance improve to the point that I can now say where
is Tamara? and I have no idea where in the garden she might be.
Instead of being a support she and I have got our freedom’s
that is an amazing result. I am so grateful to the Advance team.
The other areas of improvement have been improvements in bowel
function. I no longer need to keep a record of what is going on.
There are no tears and no time sitting waiting. Tamara still takes
15ml of ladulox but there are no incidents anymore like we used
to have and no trauma and pain.
Tamara is happier more confident and very sociable. You can see
how she has changed. I have only ever done Linda’s exercises.
Tamara’s progress is a credit to her technique. Tamara has
come out of herself. Her neck is longer her shoulders open. She
is animated and happy. She can rotate her arms above her head now
where before they could not go above her shoulder height. The list
of achievements gets longer each visit.
